In everything by prayer and supplication……with thanksgiving…… let your requests be made known unto God...”
Join us in thanking God for answered prayer
We thank God for answered prayer in the EMW Mission Wales week in Townhill Baptist Church, Swansea (19-25 May). It was a very encouraging week of outreach and gospel preaching. Thirty volunteers from a number of churches came to help at various times, 4,000 Townhill Special newspapers were distributed, a literature table near the ‘square’ was the scene of a good number of spiritually searching conversations, well over a hundred folk both children and adults, heard the gospel following a football coaching session and twenty young teens came on two evenings to play football, and listen attentively to the gospel. Six local primary schools were visited and the week’s activities ended with a family gospel service on Sunday morning, led by Pastor Allan Rees. The overall response was significantly beyond expectations.
Please continue to pray that God will surprise us with the conversion of souls in the days to come. Pray for Pastor Allan and his wife Anne Rees in their ministry at Townhill and Mayhill, including basic skills classes and children and family work, in a very needy area.
Ministers’ Conference
The Annual Ministers’ Conference at Bryn-y-groes, Bala, was well attended, and was a great time of encouragement as Michael Haykin (Toronto) preached on the work of the Holy Spirit, illustrating his messages with inspiring historical examples of God’s great work. Pray for the ministers of the gospel in these challenging days.
Urdd Eisteddfod
Roger Thomas and Ifan Mason Davies with help from Steff Job and a dedicated team of volunteers, had many valuable conversations, despite difficulties with the weather and water damage to some books. They gave out goodie bags and books, and distributed new tracts produced by EMW. Pray for planning for next year’s Eisteddfod.
Neath Bookshop
We thank God for the refurbishment of the Neath Christian Bookshop. The official opening was carried out by the mayor of Neath. Once again we are grateful to Brian Halliwell for his unsparing labours. Please pray for Gaynor Lewis and her team as they seek to witness in this busy market situation.
Pray for summer outreach in the camps, conferences, National Eisteddfod and fairs of Wales…
Much prayer is needed in what is EMW’s busiest time of the year. Pray that the Word of the Lord will have free course and be glorified.

Particular prayer matters:
Chaplains as they prepare Bible study notes and sermons.
Leadership teams with the many responsibilities they have for the smooth running of each camp.
Officers as they prepare activities and Bible-studies.
Campers – that God would prepare their hearts and already be working in their lives.
New leaders and new chaplains as they prepare for their first experience of camp.
Outdoor camps Both outdoor camps are full.
Give thanks for:
- Both outdoor camps are full despite capacity being extended to meet demand.
- Good numbers booked on all camps, enthusiastic teams in place and encouragements to older officers by seeing excellent, committed younger officers.
Conferences
The annual English Conference will be held in Aberystwyth from 9-16 August. This year we welcome Art Azurdia III, Professor of Pastoral Theology at Western Seminary, Oregon, as our main speaker. We are looking forward to hearing four conference addresses on the subject of A Clarion Call to a Worldly Christianity (please note change from the Conference brochure). Also preaching during the week will be Stuart Olyott, Rico Tice, John Treharne, Wyn Hughes, Paul Levy and Robert Thomas.
Welsh Conference
The annual Welsh speaking Conference is from 18-22 August when the main speaker will be Rev. Geraint Morse from Carmarthen. His subject will be The God who answers by Fire. Other speakers will include Meirion Morris, Derrick Adams and Dafydd Job as well as a seminar on Missions lead by Clyde Briggs.
If you’ve already booked, you can start preparing for the conferences by praying for the speakers and EMW staff as they prepare for the week. If you haven’t already booked, don’t leave it too late!
Fairs
The EMW’s evangelistic trailer is a regular visitor at events such as county fairs and agricultural shows. Roger Thomas and his team are especially busy during the summer months. Pray for them as they seek to share the gospel through conversations and literature.
Refer to the loose leaf diary and Update in the magazine for further detail and participation in the work.
Eisteddfod in Cardiff (2-9 August)
The National Eisteddfod will be in Cardiff this year, and people from all over Wales, and beyond, will spend a week enjoying this annual festival of Welsh culture.
A prominent gospel witness will take place. The EMW will be there with a bookstall, cafe facility, children’s programme and an evangelism team. Thousands of people will pass the EMW tent during the Eisteddfod.
Pray that many will be drawn in and that the LORD would use the team of volunteers.
Pray also for Y Gorlan – the witness in the young people’s field (see Update section of the magazine). Llwybrau (a Welsh youth magazine) will be launched at the Eisteddfod. A testimony tract will be distributed in thousands.
Pray also for…
EMW Theological Training Course: The residential course will be held at the end of August. Pray for new students, lecturers and Rev. Stephen Clark, the Course Director.
EMW Annual Days: 20 September, Ebenezer Baptist Church, Mold, 4 October, Highfields Church, Cardiff.
Beach missions: Over the next months there will be missions on the beaches of Wales. Your prayers are vital. Your presence would be valued!
